QUICKBLOCK® PRODUCTS

QUICKBLOCK was originally developed for a wide range of civilian uses. However, we have been working with the MoD to develop rapidly deployed force protection measures.

More recently, we’ve been working with Centre for Protection of National Infrastructure (CPNI) to develop and test Hostile Vehicle Mitigation measures using our system.

This work in the Defence and Security sector to date has shown the breadth and flexibility of Defence applications.

There are two different grades of QUICKBLOCK® available.

QUICKBLOCK® is a rapid assembly and disassembly building system which is delivered in flat-pack, its modular and easy to use. Our product has the capability to be used in a wide variety of infrastructure and force protection scenarios. The system offers an alternative to traditional building materials and is ideal for scenarios where speed and portability is a priority. The blocks do not require specialist labour or tools to assemble.

The blocks are structurally sound in their hollow form and can also be in-filled with almost a range of materials for additional strength and stability (offering ballistic and blast protection).

Furthermore, the blocks are made from 100% recycled plastic that would otherwise go to landfill, are completely reusable (e.g. structures can be dismantled and rebuild elsewhere) and are recyclable at the end of their useful life.

As part of the Take Cover! Call by the Defence and Security Accelerator (DASA), QUICKBLOCK® Defence was developed with traits of the original QUICKBLOCK in mind; speed of assembly, portability and ease of use.

Advancements in material technology have given us the ability to create a ballistic and blast resistant iteration of our building block with a lightweight and highly portable design.

BENEFITS

The two grades of QUICKBLOCK® product are deployed in the same way and the benefits across both systems are as follows.

FAST AND EASY ASSEMBLY

Our simple interlocking system means anyone can build using QUICKBLOCK with little to no training. Assemble and disassemble structures like children’s building blocks and build almost any layout or structure you can imagine (indoors and outdoors) with no need for specialist skills, tools or additional materials. User trials have been undertaken with the Royal Engineers Trials and Development Unit (RETDU) and 26 Engineer Regiment which concluded that both grades of QUICKBLOCK were incredibly user friendly and well suited to a variety of applications.

DURABLE, STRONG AND MADE TO LAST

The QUICKBLOCK building system has structural properties and is often used for semi-permanent external buildings (which stand for 5-10 years). QUICKBLOCK can be anchored to the ground and can also be in filled with additional materials for increased strength and stability.

QUICKBLOCK structures have undergone extensive impact testing, can withstand 100mph winds, heavy rainfall and have significant UV protection. Additional features such as roofing, windows and doors can be added where required.

FLAT-PACK AND PORTABLE

Flat-pack blocks make for lightweight, fast and efficient construction. QUICKBLOCK can be easily transported, even to those hard to reach locations. 240 large blocks can be transported on a standard NATO pallet; each block weights 1.2kgs.

Smaller numbers of blocks can be man transportable or broken down to packages to suit a variety of vehicles.

RECYCLED, REUSABLE AND RECYCLABLE

Each block is made from 100% recycled polypropylene, offering a practical solution for plastic waste. Structures can be disassembled and then flat packed, transported and used again.

If one block or panel is damaged, it can be replaced without replacing the whole system.
